Recommended Software

  • Eset's Nod32 Antivirus:
      • Nod32 is one of the best antivirus softwares on the market today and is not very system intensive. It will catch more malware than most and will not slow your computer down.
  • Safer Networking's Spybot Search and Destroy
      • Spybot is a free heavy duty malware remover that is not for the novice user. It will find and remove malicious software that others cannot.  It can be overly aggressive, so beware!
  • Lavasoft's Ad-Aware
      • Ad-Aware is a great free on demand spyware scanner and remover. Very user friendly and reliable.
  • Microsoft's Windows Defender
      • They say; "Don't keep all your eggs in one basket", but Microsoft has stepped up and created a very good antivirus/anti-malware software that integrates well into their own operating systems.  If  you are running Windows XP or Windows
Vista, it is a must have.
  • Mozilla's Firefox
      • A safer and more customizable internet browser to Microsoft's Internet Explorer.  There is a very little, if any, learning curve when switching between the two.
Recommended Websites

  • Gmail.com
      • Free email from Google for the novice to experienced users. Great spam and phishing filter.
  • Google Docs
      • If you need a good word processing or spread sheet software and cannot justify spending hundreds of dollars for Microsoft office, this is a great free alternative. You can use Google Docs where ever you have high speed internet access.
  • Google Gears
      • Gears is an add-on for your web browser (Internet Explorer, Safari, or Firefox)that allows you to use Google Docs on your computer where internet access is not available. Ideal for people with laptops.
      • Another great free office suite.  Once downloaded, high speed internet access is not necessary for use.
